Africa is the second largest continent after Eurasia, bounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Red Sea to the northeast, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Indian Ocean to the east, and both oceans to the south, separated by 20 degrees east longitude. Africa also refers to the part of the world consisting of the continent Africa and the adjacent islands. The area of Africa without islands is 29.2 million km², and with islands - about 30.3 million km²,[3] covering thus 6 % of the total surface area of the Earth and 20.4 % of the land surface. Africa is 32% smaller than Asia and America, being the third largest part of the world after them. There are 55 states (including dependent territories) on the territory of Africa. Its population is 1.38 billion (September 9, 2021; 18.2% of the world's population) and is comparable to the populous countries of China and India.
Африка — второй по площади материк после Евразии, омывается Средиземным морем с севера, Красным — с северо-востока, Атлантическим океаном с запада и Индийским океаном с востока, и обоими океанами с юга, с разделением по 20 градусу восточной долготы.
