In this video we take a the ultimate Road Trip across Northern Laos, starting in Vientiane and ending in Luang Prabang via Vang Vieng. Seriously, these mountain roads in Northern Laos were so dangerous, narrow, and some even on cliff faces, but they allowed us to wind through small Laos villages, getting a glimpse of the life of the mountain villages and real rural life in remote Laos. We try some street food oranges from a local store just outside of the Laos town of Kasi, before getting lost half way up a steep, muddy mountain and taking directions from Chinese Truck Drivers.
This is definitely not the easiest way to see Northern Laos - if you want the touristy, easy way you can take the Lao-China Railway - but if you are adventurous and want to do something that will really push you, this part of the world offers a challenging drive with many, many rewards along the way - perhaps just plan it a little better than we did! Whilst other parts of Laos are more drivable, the state of the roads here mean that things can quickly become more difficult, more dangerous, and much scarier very quickly - but we had a blast and would do it again in a heart beat!
