The elephants come across a muddy patch, and it doesn’t take long before they all join in for a splashy bath. Fishan finds a sloped spot where he leans into the mud, taking some pressure off his sore leg, soaking up the cool relief.

Not long after, Timisa and Khanyisa come charging into the water with all the excitement of two little sisters on a mission. Limpopo and Kumbura are close behind, the ever-watchful allomothers keeping an eye on the young ones.

Later, Adine finds Sebakwe and Khanyisa grazing side by side. While Sebakwe values his quiet time, as most bulls do, the dominant bull often chooses to stay close to the youngsters. Somopane enjoys a moment alone too… until Khanyisa catches up with him and Adine.

As the sun starts to dip, Lundi and Mambo are spotted sharing a calm moment after a tussle earlier with Zindoga. She’s always been close to her son, and today, even more so.

A day full of muddy fun, peaceful grazing and the quiet bonds that hold this special herd together.
